Jacques and Kimi Proposal

My first shoot early this year had me going to my friend’s home, one that I’ve been to a couple of times. I have a general idea on what I’m going to cover, however, the details I’ll know in a bit. When I entered the front door, I was expecting the living room, but instead I saw this…

I was like, wha…….

Two thoughts wanted to come out of my mouth, first was “Wow what an impressive setup!” second was, “Where’s the living room?!?” It felt like I stepped into a portal to a secret garden.

So I had to go around the house via the garage and through the back door, along with some of the other accomplices for the night, we now see both sides of the whole setup, which was made by their friend Kyno Kho, and I must say it’s quite impressive.

We set our positions and wait for the cue as we expect them to arrive in a few minutes, it’s a simple plan but you can’t help but have an adrenaline rush. I intended to take a few shots peeking from the inside to get a reaction before running back out to the front for the better angle of the proposal itself.

Of course, some things don’t work as we expected it to be, once Kimi (the proposee, if there is such a word) came in and saw the setup, she immediately made a 180 degree turn and went out the door. Her sister who was supposed to hand her the bouquet was standing there looking out the door, me on the other end have no idea what was happening.

I sneaked to the front and I hear serious talk, my friend was calmly explaining things. I stay out of sight until they eventually went in.

I am still amazed at how this all looks, it’s so dreamy! We hide behind the curtains and try to stay as inconspicuous as possible while all this is happening.

Aaannnd, there you go! Down on his knees followed by a sweet yes! I can hear her friends sniffling but we stay quiet for a bit more for them to enjoy the moment. Eventually, we join in to celebrate!

After a few photos with everyone involved, and in what seems like a collective agreement, we simply exited and left them alone again, to let them enjoy what just happened and how he pulled this off.

I make my way backdoor, but I can hear them talk, I hear words like “parents”, “paano yung…”, “kaya ba?…” and I think it’s both sweet and sobering. They’re going on a new chapter in life and a lot of planning has to be done, and they’re doing it together. Her friends head to the the kitchen to prepare for dinner, I take a few more shots from the back, pack up and head home, my wife has a nice meal waiting for me. What a welcome way to start the new year.
