A week ago at around midnight while browsing facebook I chanced upon the event by Fujifilm regarding a nationwide photowalk,
and to my delight, they have a category for non Fuji users! I signed up without a thought.
On the day of the event the call time is at 6am, I’m lazy on my bed at 5:30am.
Should I go?
I biked to the venue, it rained along the way. I arrived 6:15am and to my surprise there were already almost a hundred participants waiting. I guess I’m a late bird.
While waiting for the theme announcement there were ROTC officers having their training.
They continued their training even as the rain was pouring.
Not a morning I’d like to wake up to.
I’m also amazed at the the joggers who train relentlessly.
They finished their training and I asked if they’re willing to have a group photo which they gladly obliged. They’re candidates for the new batch of officers for their ROTC year.
The theme was “Breaking Patterns”. I look down and I see this.
I try to keep my interpretation of the theme a little loose, but my eyes are drawn to literal translations, here I see someone “breaking” the frame.
Maybe if I included the monument it might add some points.
I see the cadets again, walking together on their way home. One more snap against the monument as a background. Not in theme though.
It rained hard many times, here I got stuck on a shed and these guys said hello and waved for a shot.
I saw this from afar and wanted a pink umbrella on a pattern shot, but I was just too far off. Oh well. I move on.
A Shi Tzu on a pattern!!! One of the many Shi Tzus I will see on the day…
I wanted this to be a “break” in the pattern of presenting a subject, but also present it against a pattern of lines, doesn’t speak much though, I wanted to do a portrait of the person but he declined because he was playing with his uniform on. Might get him in trouble.
Here I see a more poetic translation of “breaking patterns” as a mentor “breaks” and improves the daily patterns of his students.
Patterns of activities.
Just a quick shot following my gut feeling.
Another poetic translation of “breaking patterns” but the image still feels incomplete. Soon after I was able to find an image that I felt how I wanted the translation to be.
One more “gut feel” shot.
I head to the car museum for a quick break and I find an impressive display. Will come back for this soon.
Museum guard plays with a Shi Tzu, dog’s stay in the lobby.
I bike around the park and often stop over for fat looking cats.
I see a crowd of ladies just finished with their zumba session, this lady is 60 years old and it kinda “breaks” how we think of how seniors should be.
Everytime you go up a stair you break a pattern. I guess…
Another interpretation seen from the underpass stairs. The subjects here keep on coming.
I go home early (I’m happy for this mechanic of the photowalk). Once home I take some photos of my cat before heading to bed for some more sleep. Later I realize I’ll get sick from being in the rain.
Cat whiskers
Cat nose
Cat face. Time to get some sleep.
