Does It Make a Difference?

Light Up the World - D7L_7624 A2

Have you set out to try to make an impact in this world and somewhere along the way you ask yourself that same question? “Does it make a difference?”. It seems like for all the good we try to do individually, it doesn’t seem to make any impact in light of all the bad news that is around us. The world is just too dark.

Today during the anniversary service of Christ’s Commission Fellowship, Pastor Peter Tan Chi delivered a message reminding us of a little truth. Individually our actions may be small, but together it will create an impact. I’m sure you’ve heard of that concept before but probably haven’t seen it in practical action. That is why during the last part of the message the auditorium lights were asked to be turned off.

This is how the auditorium looked like as it was being dimmed…

While the whole room was in darkness, Pastor Peter asked for the audience to respond to the call of Jesus to be salt and light to this world,
and to make a difference, by standing up and raising their cellphones.

One by one the people raised up their phones, and I thought to myself, how cool is that? It’s just like a rock concert!

With everyone’s phones raised, we reminded that the smallest light can overcome the deepest darkness, and that is what God wants us to do.
With each one’s cellphone turned on and raised up, the whole room was lit up.

So if you ever feel the insignificance of your actions, remember this and be encouraged, go out and make a difference!

“It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
and soon all those around can warm up in its glowing.
That’s how it is with God’s love once you’ve experienced it;
you spread his love to everyone;
you want to pass it on.”
