FAITH TO REST, FAITH TO MOVE

I remember I was beside my wife back then when she was given the news that the company she’s working for is ceasing their operations here in the Philippines. We were all in shock, and to those who have experienced this, you know that the rest of the week will be surreal. Sudden changes in life in general comes as a shock, and it takes its toll, whether physically, or mentally, it literally drains your energy for the days. When that happens you got to stop what you are doing, close your eyes, and breathe in. Keep reminding yourself to not worry, because reality will be knocking every moment of…

    BOHOL BEE FARM

I remember my previous experience in Bohol Bee Farm to be a bit strange because I wasn’t able to see any bees. I later learned that the colony moved to a different location when Bohol was hit by a major storm. What I also remember was that I enjoyed their food a lot! Especially their ice cream. I’m back again in Bohol, this time with my family, and the place is as lively as can be. Passing by the reception area and the shop, we walk down a quaint pathway towards the restaurant, a very buzzzy restaurant. Service staff would zip by bringing dishes or clearing tables, the chattering of…

    BACKLIT BANANAS

I was staring at these bananas while taking some photos in the marketplace, and I was thinking to myself: “Wow, they look soooo nice….”. Photographer brain quickly kicked in and reminded me that it is because of the morning light hitting it at the right angle. The more I looked at it, the more I thought about how the right light brings out the colors, shape, and texture of something. It generally elevates an image! Did I mention RIGHT LIGHT? I think a lot of things in this world are beautifully made, including you and me. And there is this figurative light that, when we step into it, brings out…

    SHARED MOMENTS

How fortunate is someone who has a friend that they can share life with. Troubled thoughts dissipate as the conversation goes on. The weight on the heart is shared and carried through with gentle encouragements. The Bible reminds us: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”‭‭ 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬

    OILING THE GEARS

It’s been a long while since I’ve done a predebut photoshoot. Mainly because I haven’t been marketing myself for it lately. It came to a point where I wonder to myself if I’m still able to do it well. But I have a friend whom I owed a photoshoot for, and what she asked was for me to do a pictorial for her niece. I really couldn’t say no. Arriving at the venue, I try to shake off thoughts that tell me that I’m rusty at this kind of shoots. Instead, I try to remember the teachings I learned before, and compile them in my head as I prepare my…

    MORNING GROOVE

I had an out of Manila shoot a few weeks ago, but it was sched on my coding day because that was the only day available. So I thought, why not get there really early, and nap while I wait for my client. I got there early all right, but my body didn’t want to nap anymore. So I took a walk and explored the market.Markets in the early mornings make for an interesting trip for an observer, much more for a photographer. The energy, smell, people, and light, truly wakes up your senses. A great way to start a day. With ample time to take pictures, and a little…

    THE VIRGIN BLUE

It takes effort for me to not shoot. So on the last day of a resort project, I intentionally put away my camera to relax, relax in a way others will define relax. I walk around, enjoy the sand, meditate on the sounds, and then I see this. My feet made a turnaround and I find myself heading to the room for my camera and back to take this shot. For some reason, I am able to relax and enjoy a work trip like this even if you see me shooting the whole day (and night). But now this pic makes me miss the cool blue waves at Virgin Beach.…
