COLLECTIVE MOTION – The Quiet Rush at Ueno Crossing

I remember enjoying the time when I slowed down from exploring and simply watched the movement of people in this crosswalk. It’s somewhat addicting, especially if you enjoy people watching. There’s something that emanates from all the people moving together. Hundreds crossing at the same time, each person unknowingly contributing to a strange peaceful energy that can be felt by anyone willing to take notice. It draws you in, and if you’re not careful, time will fly by unnoticed. Eventually, the thought came to me to try to capture this scene nicely.

It wasn’t an easy scene though, as it took so many visits and tries to capture it in the right moment. Despite the multitude of elements, the scene is unusually serene, save for the sound of the familiar countdown. I’ll prefer this to the other more famous crossing. With that, I’ll definitely drop by again, maybe to find a better angle. For now I’m thinking of giving it a name… “Ueno Rush” maybe? 🙂
