OILING THE GEARS

It’s been a long while since I’ve done a predebut photoshoot. Mainly because I haven’t been marketing myself for it lately. It came to a point where I wonder to myself if I’m still able to do it well. But I have a friend whom I owed a photoshoot for, and what she asked was for me to do a pictorial for her niece. I really couldn’t say no.

Arriving at the venue, I try to shake off thoughts that tell me that I’m rusty at this kind of shoots. Instead, I try to remember the teachings I learned before, and compile them in my head as I prepare my gears and scout the location for angles. I’ve learned a lot of things this year too in regards to photography. So I’m glad that once we started shooting, it took only a few minutes before the flow start to kick in again. I am also honest to mention that while there is a warm up period for the debutante in front of the camera, the photographer has a warm up period behind the camera as well.

I enjoyed what I would call a refresher shoot. Because photography seems to be like riding a bike, it stays with you once you get it into your system. So if you’re reading this and know of anyone who’d like to do a pre-debut or portrait shoot, let me know, I’d like to keep my mental gears well oiled.

And I’d like to apply what I read in the Bible as well:”Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
